Epilogue...

So here the story ends, even though there would be 5 nights in Barcelona and 40 hours total of travel before we would arrive home. I had originally intended to include the rest of the trip in this blog, but Africa will always stand alone; it was the trip of a lifetime for us and so rich in memories that, as amazing as Catalan Spain was, to include those days here would unfairly dilute the experience that was Barcelona.

I think it is safe to say that Africa struck a bargain with us. It gave us experiences and memories to last a lifetime. In return it took a little piece of our hearts. You can't go to the Serengeti and not be overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the landscape. You can't see the animals, and the daily drama of life and death they live without gaining insight into the great web of life. You can't meet the people without feeling enriched by their warmth and generosity. You can't see how so many of them live in poverty without having your heart broken.

You can't go to Africa without being changed forever.

It's worth it.
